Music Video Analysis (Anthony Black)

This video was first released in 2009, The video is mostly in low key lighting and is slow paced to go along with the song so does not feature many quick takes. The video is high budget due to as the video goes on the video features more CGI and will start to be quicker paced as the song goes on as well. The video is also shaky throughout that suits the lyrics of the video.

The video for this song is mostly a montage of the band performing at concerts and behind the scenes. This is common for this genre of music videos to show a montage of the band performing live. Unlike the other Kings of Leon song above this video features no CGI and keeps a similar pace throughout the video to go with the song unlike the song above where it gets faster as it goes on.

The video for "Stay With Me" is basic but very effective as its simply the artists (Sam Smith) walking down the street as he sings the song, there are a few scenes where its in a different scene. This video works well with the lyrics to the song however and with it being so simple means it is more effective and because its a s low paced song the video is also slow paced to go with the song.

The song is like the others above where the video is slow paced and features long takes and very few short takes. The video features a few pan shots when the camera shows what all the band is doing and this is also done through quick close ups on the band.

Music Artists Research (Charles Mossman)

I have created a video using VideoScribe in which shows the research that I have constructed. The video is based upon looking at famous music artists/bands and how successful they have been within their careers. Constructing this research on particular artists, within the genre of the groups choice will help the team give an outline as to how and what music video idea the groups video will be based upon. Please take a few moments to watch my video presenation below.

Potential Idea (Kieran Winrow)

Idea
I have recently thought of an idea for a music video concept and what I came up with was that using video scribe you can get it to draw images. So I thought what about filming in a gallery for example, the Tate Gallery, and then using editing software and after affects to overlay the image onto the frame and then using a green screen act like we were coming out of the frame.
To do this it would require either me or the group (or both) to do a lot of research into what software to use and how I would be able to do it.

Moodboard (Ian Pelgrave)

This is a collage of images of artists, album covers and music posters that reflect the same genre that our group music video will be on. This will help us give an outline as what our research, planning and construction based work will be on.

Groups First Tasks

For the groups first task we have decided to gather together to discuss our dissisions on what each individual can do for our first steps in regards to our research and development into creating a sucessfull music video. We have finally decided on what each individual in the group should do by giving each other a separate task. We have inserted an image were we have drawn up  our decisions for the first stage of our process which will contribute into our journey for creating our music video. These tasks will be uploaded onto the blog within time to come.

Group Work Process

We have created mind maps stating our decisions on what particular genre our music video could be based upon. Each member of the group have selected an area of interest in regards to their taste and style in music.

After looking at the four styles of music genres we have narrowed our decision down by selecting our final style will be indie/pop music genre. We as a group have decided to pick this genre as every member in the group is very familiar with particular artists, music videos and songs within this particular category. Therefore we as a group will be able to construct our research into the genre more confidently and in an effective manner which will contribute into creating a successful music video.

In our chosen genre we have outlined the names and types of songs, music videos, artist, posters and album covers in which our final genre style is based upon. The groups ideas are stated on the second mind map image below.
